Choosing a teacher
I have always thought it mattered who you have as a teacher.
Maybe because I was so challenged when learning as a child, that getting the wrong teacher meant I just had to sit there learning nothing. So, whether it's a math or English class or Reiki or coaching or past life regression, I think that having the right teacher is extremely important. The teacher must be good at teaching, not just good at the subject matter. It is an important aspect of teaching that they can teach all three ways that a person learns.
Maybe because learning was hard for me, I want to provide the best learning experience that I can. I provide the conditions I would want personally. Small groups and comfortable settings - Set back in nature, able to drink tea and eat snacks while we discuss topics together. Small classes and shared meals together. Extra time for questions, fun and laughter.
Getting to ask the teacher their personal perspective on topics in class or after, and also being able to get questions answered that are on other metaphysical topics as well. I mentor students so that there is no ceiling on how far anyone can go, and everyone has unique gifts that they may want to develop, and there are many choices and directions to go, depending on their interests.
I never thought I would be a teacher. As a dyslexic person and as a student when I was young, I saw the idea of teaching in front of students at their desks in a brick room as a nightmare job. I never saw it as I do now… Teaching things that I’m so passionate about that I lose time, and my energy soars. In a comfortable space of my own making. Even when it is not my space, I am able to fill it with my energy and make it special.
I love that you have lots of choices out there. I have been teaching for a long time and I know I am unique. I tease that I don't teach alone because I have such a big group of unseen helpers! Helpers who help me in teaching and sessions and I don't have to be in a meditative state to reach them. They are there all the time. I had a traumatic brain injury, and my brain was rewired. The process didn't happen all at once, but has been expanding over the years, and is now a very easy and natural part of who I am.
I like my students to have something written, such as a manual. We discuss the history of our subject matter and stories while in a relaxed atmosphere. No two classes will ever be identical, as there are examples and stories that come up for each class that will be customized to who is there.
Together we go over subjects that apply directly to the students in the room and experience them together, with examples that they can use in their everyday life. In this way, I've covered all three ways of learning: Hearing it, experiencing it, and seeing it.
I always say, ‘I don't organize the students,’ Spirit does that. There are always synchronicities for the people who come together. A family room setting, with couches and chairs, not desks, allows for easy learning for many of my highly sensitive students. With easy access to bathrooms and kitchen and to the outdoors, we can accommodate many special needs for breaks or special requests because of small class sizes.
Reach out if you have a special request.
We know you have choices, and I am so glad you do. I am probably not the right teacher for everyone. If you like desks and a very tight ship of organization, I’m probably not your teacher. I am an out of the box thinker. I am a creator. If you want to be able to practice later for Reiki and reach out with questions to your teacher, then that’s who I am. I love hearing from my students.
I am passionate about what I teach, and I must be an expert in something before I start teaching it.
